Tassie Touring

January 2018

We spent a delightful six days in Tasmania with our good friends, Di and Owen.  They have created a wonderful olive grove on Bruny Island, SE of Hobart so we spent the first couple of days on Bruny.  If you happen to pop into the Cheese Factory, do sample the olives as they are the ones produced by Di and Owen (Bruny Island Olives).  Cool weather but it didn’t dampen our adventurous spirits!

Then it was back to Hobart and surrounding areas for more exploring, eating and imbibing.  Wonderful to sample the tasty culinary delights of Tassie produce.

BRUNY ISLAND

Great walks, great food and white wallabies:

HOBART and SURROUNDS

Mt Wellington

New Norfolk

The Salmon Ponds – original breeding pools for Tassie trout and salmon.

The Possum Shed – excellent cafe with resident platypus.

MONA – MUSEUM OF NEW AND OLD

All sorts of unusual exhibits!!

Falling water – cleverly organised to spell words in the blink of an eye.

The mechanical digestive system which is fed daily.

Space to the right of the walkway filled with oil – deceptive!

A lunch breather – lovely environment.

Back into the MONA exhibits.

The living tattooed man – sitting there all day to be viewed.

And back to Di and Owen’s place in Sandy Bay – fabulous views.

Final meal at Fish Frenzy near Constitution Dock.  Excellent!!

Thank you Di and Owen for an excellent Tassie Tour.  Now for the air and water diet back home!!!!
